Production Notes
Crafted from a combination of mountain and valley-floor fruit, the 2021 Duckhorn Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon benefited from unique growing conditions. An unusually dry winter and warm spring led to delayed budbreak, while light rains in March resulted in smaller clusters and berries, yielding concentrated flavors. Despite a fast-paced early harvest in August due to heat, a mid-September cool-down allowed for sugars to align with flavor development. Moderate temperatures in late September provided extended hangtime for the grapes, producing a dense, pure, and polished wine.
Food Pairing Suggestions
This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with roasted meats, braised lamb shank, grilled portobello mushrooms, or aged cheeses such as cheddar or gouda. Its vibrant fruit and structured tannins make it a versatile wine for both hearty meals and fine dining occasions.
Aging Potential
While this wine is approachable and enjoyable in its youth, its balance of acidity, tannins, and complexity makes it ideal for cellaring. Properly stored, it will continue to develop and evolve beautifully over the next 8–12 years.
